A short reflection
Posted on: 23rd December 2020
We are almost a week away to officially end this year but the coming days will be spent in a whirlwind of christmas celebrations, cooking, baking, partying at home with my bubble of friends, Wonder Woman watch party, cleaning up, and recovering from the party…. so trying to get this post out while I can.
2020 has not really been a great year. COVID disrupted every aspect of my life and I am still paying for it - mentally, physically, financially. I just wish it would get over soon but there’s no end to it. In the midst of all this gloom, my constant source of joy has been my daughter. Honestly, taking care of her 24/7 is a lot of work and most of the times I don’t enjoy it but then she will smile her silly smile, imitate us, invent her own games, play with the boys or express herself and it makes everything worthwhile. Watching her explore this world warms my heart in ways I can’t describe. I do wish my wife and I had more help but I can’t exactly bring any of my relatives over here from India in the time of a pandemic.
This was the year when I finally took the plunge to self-hosting some apps, cutting down on subscriptions (media and apps), deleting instagram and twitter (fb was killed last year), moving to migadu for personal emails, setting up a mirror gemini capsule, migrating from write.as and hosting this blog locally. Basically, whatever I can do to save money and improve my digital life. This is still very much a work in progress though. I joined a book club! Its relatively new but I am making some time to read apart from the articles on the internet and I would call that a progress. Hoping to fill up my reading list next year!
I have been doing this 100DaysToOffload challenge since April and I am nowhere near done but this is something I want to see through next year before April. I have reached 62 posts so 38 more seems doable 😅️. In case I don’t post anything else in the coming days.. Merry Christmas, Happy holidays and a Happy new year!
